The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, informed that there will be a road closure in West Bay Area throughout May. The right turn access on to United Nations Street from Omar Al Mukhtar Street will be closed to allow the finishing works on the tie-in road linking to a new flyover that will form a part of the multi-level Al Khaleej Al Gharbi Interchange on Ashghal’s Lusail Expressway.
The closure in the West Bay area is designed in consultation with the General Directorate of Traffic. During the closure, people travelling from The-Pearl towards West Bay should take the next available right turn after United Nation Street, continue along Al Intisar Street and turn right to join United Nation Street.
Road users travelling from West Bay towards The- Pearl, who wish to access United Nation Street, should continue on Omar Al Mukhtar Street and make a U-turn at the first set of traffic lights as they currently do. The exit from United Nation Street on to Omar Al Mukhtar will have no effect.
Ashghal recommended travellers to allow additional time in order to access local schools and embassies in the area. Road users are asked to maintain a speed limit of 50 kph.
