A total of 102 violations were detected by the MEC (Ministry of Economy and Commerce) at the Central Market Abu Hamour area. The surprise inspection campaign was accompanied by MoI (Ministry of Interior) and MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment).
The street peddlers who were operating without any commercial licences was referred to the security authorities in order to take legal actions. The aim of the campaign is to check the suppliers with the obligations stipulated in Law No 5 of 2015 on commercial and industrial outlets, similar public facilities and street peddlers and the Ministerial Decree No 243 of 2016 regarding controls and licensing requirements for street peddlers work.
MEC has warned that there will be more raids to monitor and also urged the public to report if they come across any violations.
