In support of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s (MEC) call to adjust operating hours during Ramadan, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company has extended store hours till after midnight in most of its branches.
Al Meera has said its shopping centre in Al Mansoura will be open 24 hours. “ This comes in appreciation of the ministry’s role in protecting consumers and enhancing their experiences at commercial venues.” Al Meera said.
As Qatar’s “first consumer retail chain” to communicate its commitment to the MEC’s ‘The Least We Can Do’ initiative, the move is “direct support” from the company for all initiatives.
The campaign comes as an extension of last year’s Ramadan offer, and gives patrons of 35 of Al Meera branches, as well as Géant Hypermarket, the opportunity to purchase at cost price 1,438 high quality products that have been carefully selected to cater to the specific needs of shoppers in the holy month.
Al Meera’s active participation for the Ramadan guidelines by MOI is aligned with its mission “to provide consumers across Qatar with convenience and a world-class shopping experience that provides true value for money.”
Al Meera chairman Sheikh Thani bin Thamer al-Thani said: “Since inception, Al Meera has been at the heart of the community and has spared no effort to make a real difference in the shopping experience of consumers across the country. This year, Al Meera’s active participation in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s ‘The Least We Can Do’ initiative is the expression of our appreciation for their role in the Qatari community.”
He added: “In light of this initiative, Al Meera proudly extends its operating hours in most stores and has allocated our Mansoura branch to operate for 24 hours. Al Meera is pleased to be further serving the Qatari community through extending our operating hours, embodying our motto ‘Your Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’ in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 for the ongoing support to the various regions of the country.”
MEC initiative ‘The Least We Can Do’ is part of Al Meera’s collaboration with the MEC, where the company made use of visually designed shelf talkers to clearly designate 418 products that are priced by the MEC to keep consumers well informed during the holy month.
Al Meera recently launched its ‘1,438 consumer goods at cost price’ campaign as a tribute to the Islamic Year 1438, which comes as part of this year’s Ramadan campaign under the slogan ‘an abundance of good, in the month of goodness’.
