Man Has A 47-Year-Old Unopened Present That Was Given By Girl Who Dumped Him The Same Day

Give this man an award! I mean the man’s patience is incredible!

Adrian Pearce, from Edmonton, Canada, on the other-hand has the patience of a saint. He’s still not opened up a present that was given to him in 1970. Yup 47 years ago and it’s still wrapped up. I wonder what’s in it?

It’s actually got quite a sad little story attached, because Adrian was given the gift by his first ever serious girlfriend, Vicki – on the same day she binned him off. Ooof.

Adrian told CBC: “She gave me a present at the same time and I took the present home. I had a long walk home and I was all upset and angry, and all the things you feel when somebody breaks up with you.

“And so I fired the present under the Christmas tree. After my family opened their gifts at Christmas, there was still one Christmas gift left and it’s the gift this girl Vicki had given me. I told my family I’m never going to open that present.”

Fast-forward 47 years and he’s still managed to resist its charms and it remains wrapped up.

Adrian says that a few years after the break up Vicki’s sister got in touch with him to tell that she wanted to see him again – the pair were briefly reunited, but then realised that neither was particularly interested in starting a relationship, so they drifted apart once more.

However, Adrian would still put the present under the tree every year, though, even after he married and had kids. Naturally, his kids begged him to open up, but he always said no.

Eventually – and probably understandably – his missus had enough and told him to stop putting it under the tree every year. So he now just pulls it out and has a little look every Christmas, wondering what it might contain but somehow never just ripping the bloody paper off.

Adrian has since tried to contact Vicki, but none of the numbers he’s tried for her are correct and an Internet search was also fruitless.

He told the news outlet: “I kept it initially because I guess I had hopes that we would get back together and open it together. Now it’s just become a habit after 47 years of looking at it and having the pleasure of not opening it.

“Maybe I don’t want to know what’s inside it. It’s more exciting right now not opening the thing.”

Although, he did admit to almost opening it in a ‘moment of weakness’ before stopping himself.

As we approach the present’s 50th anniversary, he’s considering having a competition to guess what’s in the parcel, with a fee to enter and all proceeds going to charity.

Adding that perhaps Vicki can be found so she can share in the fun. I’m dying to know what’s in it, mate, come on. Open it.
