Qatar reported to the UN Security Council and UN secretary general about the airspace violation by Bahrain. The report was submitted by the Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Qatar’s permanent representative to the United Nations, to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Karel van Oosterom, the president of the UN Security Council for this month.
She mentioned that a Bahraini fighter jet violated the airspace of Qatar on Sunday, March 25. It is being considered as a serious breach that constitutes a serious and flagrant violation of international law, noting that repeated violations of Qatari sovereignty would increase tension in the region without regard to its security and stability.
The Qatari government has urged the UN to take required steps to ensure international peace and security and put an end to the repeated violations by Bahrain.
While the message highlighted that Qatar has continued its policy of restraint towards irresponsible and provocative practices, it stressed that Qatar strongly condemns any violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that it reserves the right to respond to any violations and will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and defend its borders, airspace, territorial waters and national security in line with international laws and regulations.
