Emir HH Shiekh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had a telephonic conversation with the US President Donald Trump during which strategic relations between the two countries were discussed.
The two leaders also discussed various events of common interests, along with the developments on the regional and international front.
Meanwhile, Emir was thanked in a statement issued by the White House after the talks. He was appreciated for Qatar’s continued commitment to counter terrorist financing and extremism.
“The leaders discussed Iran’s increasingly reckless behaviour in the region and the threat it poses to regional stability. The president and the Emir discussed the obstacles to restoring unity in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC). The president thanked the Emir for his commitment to help restore GCC unity and emphasised that it is critical to end the Gulf dispute.”
The two leaders also agreed on the importance of regional unity to address security threats and to ensure the prosperity of the people in the region, the statement added.
