It is really important to recognise somebody’s good work and when it comes to saving a life, people deserve all the gratitude.
Mamoudou Gassama, the 22-year-old Malian man became a sensation of sorts in France after he rescued a small kid who was hanging from the fourth floor of a building. His heroic act has now gone viral and people just cannot stop appreciating him. But he claims that he only acted on his instinct.
The act became so popular that the French president Emmanuel Macron even granted him honorary French citizenship.
Gassama said: “I like children, I would have hated to see him getting hurt in front of me. I ran and I looked for solutions to save him and thank god I scaled the front of the building to the balcony.”
The president also gave him a gold medal for performing an act of courage and dedication. Gassama who came to France in search for a better life has been offered a job as a foreman at the Parisian’s fire department.
Using just hid hands, he scaled one balcony after another from the ground in less than 30 seconds to save the child.
Meanwhile, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has commended his act and called him to thank personally and even referred to him as the “Spider-Man of the 18th” as, after all, the incident took place in the city’s 18th arrondissement.
Hidalgo said: “Congratulations to Mamoudou Gassama for his act of bravery that saved the life of a child.”
The child’s father was out shopping and playing “Pokemon Go” while his child’s life was in serious trouble already. “The father is very upset because he realizes what he did and what could have happened,” Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said.
