Youtuber Pulls Off Daredevil Stunt To Check Whether Sharks Can Actually Smell A Drop Of Blood From A Mile Away
It’s crazy to see people do some really stupid stuff to stay in limelight. However, you got it give it to the guts of these people to try something ridiculous.
In this case, a YouTuber tried to test if Sharks can actually smell a drop of blood from a mile away with a dangerous test. Mark Rober threw himself into the ocean in the Bahamas to find out the truth.
They started out by testing to see whether sharks liked the scent of blood over other flavours. They placed fish oil, cow’s blood, sea water, and urine on top of surfboards to see what was attracting to the dangerous creature.
Though, the blood didn’t get any attention in the beginning, there were more than 40 sharks near the cow’s blood by the end of the study. While there was a mild reaction to the fish oil, the urine and seawater had no suitors.
Now, the next test was to know whether the sharks had any special liking for human blood. Again, there were control surfboards employed for the study, one that deployed one drop of blood per minute, one that would espouse one drop every four seconds and one that had nothing.
This time there was a shock for the researchers as no sharks were attracted to any of the surfboards.
“I think it’s safe to qualitatively say that if no sharks came to check out 15 drops of human blood a minute in the middle of shark-infested waters, you’re probably going to be okay with a small scrape,” Rober revealed.
“There certainly won’t be some kind of feeding frenzy with a single drop of blood from all sharks within a mile.”
Now, if that turns out to be true then it should definitely be a calming thing to many who are eager to get into ocean adventures. However, you don’t need an expert to tell you that you should not to messing around with the sharks.
